“Bless the Lord,
O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.” Psalm 103:2
The psalmist reminds himself and us
how to face each day: Kneel in adoration before God; bow before the Lord with all that is within you. No
matter your stance before Him, bend your mind, will, and emotions to Him;
acknowledge Him and praise His name. David adds that we should not forget all God’s
benefits—His services, acts of goodness, and reward. What are those undeserved blessings
God lavishes on His children who are unworthy except for the cleansing blood of
Jesus? David elaborated on God’s forgiveness, healing, saving grace, kindness, patience,
mercy, righteousness, fairness, and tolerance.
God’s most
significant expression of His love towards humanity was
letting His one and only Son, Jesus, die, paying the price for our sins.
His bountiful, innumerable dealings with us are because of His compassionate nature
and goodness, not our merits. Heavenly Father, thank You. We exalt You and bow
our hearts before You—we bless Your holy name.
